Keoladeo National Park, located in the State of Rajasthan, is an important wintering ground of Palaearctic migratory waterfowl and is renowned for its large congregation of non-migratory resident breeding birds. A green wildlife oasis situated within a populated human-dominated landscape, some 375 bird species and a diverse array of other life forms have been recorded in this mosaic of grasslands, woodlands, woodland swamps and wetlands of just 2,873 ha. This ‘Bird Paradise’ was developed in a natural depression wetland that was managed as a duck shooting reserve at the end of the 19th century.

It can truly be called "The Bird Capital of India". The Park is eco-friendly and pollution free, and I was extremely pleased to see that the only mode of transport allowed were rickshaws and bicycles. I even noticed the authority is trying it's best to keep the park free from plastic pollution. I request all the visitors coming to this place of national/global importance to not harm the nature or the wildlife preserved here, but rather witness their beauty and elegance. We should be proud and feel blessed to have such a place in our country where so many beautiful species of bird find their second home far away from home?♥️

One of the highlights of my trip to Rajasthan. A great respite from the hustle and bustle of Indian cities. The park is perfectly sized for bicycle self-safaris. The biodiversity (of birds especially) is mesmerizing. Bring long lens and enjoy the unspoilt nature.
